Setup guide
At first launch, ClockStack opens a short setup guide. It shows how to make room in the menu bar: set the system clock to analog and hide the battery and Wi-Fi icons. You can open the guide again at any time from the ClockStack menu (Setup Guide…).
ClockStack doesn’t appear in the menu bar
On a MacBook with a notch, macOS hides menu bar items that don’t fit. Hide the battery and Wi-Fi icons in System Settings › Menu Bar (Control Center on older macOS) and set the system clock to analog. You can also hold ⌘ and drag ClockStack to another position.
If ClockStack is still hidden, open it again from the Applications folder: the settings window appears. ⌘Q quits ClockStack.
Settings and quitting
Click ClockStack in the menu bar. The menu shows battery and network details and contains Settings… (⌘,), Setup Guide… and Quit ClockStack (⌘Q).
The charging dot doesn’t move
The dot moves only while the Mac is actually charging. A still dot means it’s plugged in but not charging, for example at a charge limit or with Optimized Battery Charging. With Reduce Motion turned on in the Accessibility settings, the dot doesn’t move.
What the network symbols mean
Three dots mean a strong Wi-Fi signal, two a medium and one a weak signal. Empty dots: Wi-Fi is on but not connected to a network. Orange dots: connected to Wi-Fi, but without network access, for example when the router has no internet. A red dot: Wi-Fi is off and there is no other connection. A hotspot symbol appears when tethering, ‹···› on Ethernet.
ClockStack only measures the signal strength. It doesn’t read the network name and doesn’t need location access.
Launch at login
Turn on Launch at login in the ClockStack settings or in the last step of the setup guide. It stays off until you turn it on. If macOS asks for approval, allow ClockStack in System Settings › General › Login Items.
Uninstall
Turn off Launch at login, quit ClockStack from its menu and move it from the Applications folder to the Trash.
